Our skilled training staff, who are all current or retired law enforcement officers, come to you and your location to instruct and certify your department’s trainers on using The Alternative® less-lethal platform. In a comprehensive, one-day course designed for easy adoption and maximum efficiency, we train your team through a hands-on experience with The Alternative®.
Participants can expect an intensive, comprehensive, and interactive instructional course through Alternative Ballistics’ ‘train the trainer’ program. Our classroom session covers use of force case law and hands-on technology familiarization. Trainees also have the opportunity of 500 to 1,000 reps in firearm manipulation drills to produce proficiency in proper handling and muscle memory in preparation for real life situations. Finally, our program culminates in a live-fire session on the range to ensure practical, real-world application and to solidify skills and confidence. Post training, we provide all of the training collateral to the department for its trainers to instruct and qualify their own officers. This includes but is not limited to the user manual, lesson plan, training slides, written exam, and sample department policy.
For training purposes, we designed The Alternative® Training Unit, a reusable device made with a drilled ‘pass-through’ in the projectile for compatibility with virtual and reality-based training programs. These training units facilitate repetitions and allow officers to go through the full process of identifying applicable situations and attaching and deploying the unit in simulated scenarios to develop proficiency in proper handling and muscle memory in preparation for real-world situations. Our Instructor Training Kit includes a custom target, target stand, and tote cases for easy carrying and storage. Our training assets are provided to the department so that its team is fully versed on the background and use of The Alternative® but the materials and policies can be adapted as needed to best fit an individual department’s procedures on the use of force.
As law enforcement professionals and former policymakers, our team understands the hesitation around new technology in modern policing.
